Goa, located on the west coast of India, is known the world over for its unique charm and magnetic appeal. Its attraction lies not just in its picturesque beaches and lively festivals of song and dance, there are old colonial buildings, churches and cathedrals to enjoy as well. In fact the entire state is filled with attractions of various kinds. Goa is divided into two districts ? North Goa with the state capital of Panaji and South Goa with cities like Vasco da Gama and Margao. The best time to visit is from October to March.

With its Portuguese heritage Goa is home to many churches and cathedrals. The ones to visit are the churches of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Catejan, St. Augustine Ruins, the Church and Convent of St. Monica, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, Chapel of St. Anthony and the Chapel of St. Catherine. The Se Cathedral is the largest church in Goa, while the holy basilica of Bom Jesus is a famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage.

Goa also has a fair population of Hindus and the Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the most famous places of worship in the state.
