By Train
Chennai has two railway stations ? Chennai Central and Egmore Station. The former is the main terminus that links the city other parts of India. The Egmore Station is mainly used for trains that connect Chennai with various destinations in south India.
By Road
A good network of roads link Chennai to all the important places in Tamil Nadu and India. The city?s Mofussil Bus Terminus is one of the largest bus stations in Asia and several buses operate between the city and other states.
Madras
Located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, Chennai (formerly known as Madras) is the capital of Tamil Nadu and the largest city in southern India. The city offers a heady mix of the traditional and the modern. You can get traditional vegetarian food as easily as you can fast food; women wearing sarees that are nine yards in length as well as women dressed in the latest western outfits. Fort St. George
Sir Robert Clive, one of the founders of the British Empire in India, began his empire building process from Chennai?s Fort St. George. Today, the building houses the Legislature and Secretariat of the Tamil Nadu government.
Marina Beach
One of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Chennai, the Marina Beach extends all the way from Fort St. George to Mahabalipuram.
Parthasarathy Temple
Built in the 8th century by the Pallava kings and renovated in the 16th century by the Vijayanagar rulers, this temple is renowned for its marvelous architecture, particularly the beautiful gopuram (arched gateway).
